Organization Overview:

Based in downtown Los Angeles we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to serving the local homeless population. We offer emergency and long-term services to our community in order to help them find a better life. 

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The primary objective of this role is to manage financial reporting, ensure accurate financial entries, and support the overall financial health of the organization. 

Key Responsibilities

• Generate financial statements and reports
• Review financial entries for accuracy
• Analyze accounts and identify discrepancies
• Process journal entries and maintain the general ledger
• Monitor budget variances and report findings
• Compile regulatory reports for compliance
• Prepare documentation for external audits
• Support the disbursement cycle and accounts payable processes
• Assist with payroll processing and reconciliation
• Utilize Salesforce and Abila MIP Fund Accounting to manage financial data
• Perform financial data analysis to support organizational goals

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
• Proficient in financial statement preparation and balance sheet analysis
• Experience with general ledger accounting and journal entry processing
• Familiarity with Abila MIP Fund Accounting and Salesforce
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the New Market Tax Credit Program is a plus
