Key Responsibilities:

• Retail Accounting Support: Manage the full spectrum of accounting services for our member stores, including the production of monthly financial statements, preparation of sales and use tax returns, payroll processing, and annual corporate/personal tax returns.
• Tax Compliance and Setup: Develop and maintain taxability tables in our ERP system to ensure accurate reporting of sales tax, cigarette and tobacco taxes, and other state or municipal taxes.
• Corporate Tax and Reporting: Assist with tax filings and reporting for Certco's corporate accounting, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Position Summary

This role includes providing full retail accounting support to several of our member stores which includes producing monthly financial statements, sales and use tax returns, payroll and annual corporate/personal tax returns. In addition, the accounting/tax manager will understand and setup taxability tables for Certco to properly report sales tax, cigarette and tobacco taxes, and other state or municipal tax filings in the ERP system and assist with filings and reporting as needed for Certco corporate accounting.

Essential Job Functions

Retail accounting support for member stores:

• Provide premium customer service to ensure reports and returns are issued on a timely basis to meet deadlines.
• Educate clients on using QuickBooks when necessary.
• Provide guidance and supervision to associates on payroll, financial reporting, tax preparation and various projects.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, sales tax returns and financial statements.
• Prepare year-end 1099 reporting and personal property tax returns.
• Prepare/Review Corporation, S-Corporation, Partnership and Individual tax returns using tax preparation software.
• Maintain fixed assets and depreciation records.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding accounting and/or tax issues.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Certco corporate accounting tasks:

• Maintain taxability tables for Certco in the ERP system to properly comply with tax reporting.
• Stay up to date with tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Prepare and file various tax reports, including but not limited to sales tax, cigarette and tobacco tax reporting, and other municipal filings specific to wholesale grocery.
• Provide guidance and supervision to associates that gather and maintain necessary data for tax reporting purposes.
• Assist in tax audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
• Collaborate with category managers to ensure new item setup includes proper classification of tax codes, as applicable, for Certco and our retail grocery store members.
• Conduct periodic reviews and audits to identify and mitigate risks related to tax reporting and master data management for Certco.
• Work with internal and external auditors to provide requested information and resolve any compliance issues.
• Is regular in attendance and complies with the Company Attendance Policy

Competencies

• Knowledge of and skill in using computer software, including QuickBooks, FAS, Sage HRMS, MS Excel and tax preparation software.
• Proven experience in tax reporting and compliance.
• Familiarity with tax laws and regulations in relevant jurisdictions.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
• Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Education and Experience

• CPA license required
• 3-5 years of experience
