Job Description

AB Staffing is looking for an experienced Social Worker / Counselor that is available for the 2024/2025 school year.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health related field such as Psychology, Mental Health, Counseling, or Social Work. 
• Possess a valid, unrestricted license/certification from a state or U.S. Territory that grants legal authority to provide psychological and/or counseling services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or a similar counseling field.
• 3+ years of experience as a counselor, preferably in a school setting
• Strong skills in written and verbal communication, assessment, advocacy, and crisis response. 
• Experience in conducting mental health assessments, leading individual and group counseling sessions, and facilitating psychoeducational sessions.
• Knowledge of the techniques and principles of: Child development; family systems theory; suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention best practices, crisis intervention; individual, group, and family therapy; multicultural counseling; and trauma focused interventions.
• 1+ year(s) experience developing and implementing crisis intervention plans
• Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.

Job Description: 

• Contract through the 2024/2025 school year 
• Contract follows the academic district calendar – 35 to 40 hours per week.
• Caseload and details of position/classroom type will differ based on school location - Recruitment Specialists can discuss in detail upon application to connect you to the classroom and best suits your experience and skillset

Essential Functions:

• Works to resolve students' educational handicaps; works to discover and develop special abilities of students; works to prevent students from dropping out of school
• Helps register students new to the school and orients them to school procedures and the school’s varied opportunities for learning; aids students in course and subject selection; maintains student records and protects their confidentiality
• Assists students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to such situations as home and family relations, peer relations, health, and emotional adjustment; is available to students to provide counseling in such areas as personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity
• Conducts small group counseling on student-selected and counselor-identified topics such as study skills, social skills, anger management, self-esteem, changing families, and grief
• Obtains and disseminates occupational information to students and to classes studying occupations; helps students evaluate career interests and choices; may organize and conduct career day
• Provides crisis counseling when needed, for prevention, intervention, and follow-up, with referrals, when necessary, to community resources
• Offers in-service training in school counseling topics for staff; collaborates with administrators and faculty on the matters of student discipline, developmental issues, and identifying significant behaviors such as suicide, self-harm, and depression
• Takes an active role in interpreting the school's objectives to students, parents, and the community at large; confers with parents whenever necessary
• Performs other related work as assigned

Salary:

LCSW/LPC:

• Weekly: $2762.00/week based off working 40 hours
• Monthly: $11,048.00/month based off working 40 hours per week

LMSW:  

• Weekly: $2622.00/week based off working 40 hours
• Monthly: $10,488.00/month based off working 40 hours per week
