What To Expect

This position is expected to start around September 2025 and continue through the fall term (approximately December 2025) or into Spring 2026 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About The Team
As an Embedded Software Engineer Intern on the Low Voltage Power Management Team, you will be responsible for delivering high quality embedded code residing on all the Tesla vehicle platforms. You will work on a variety of aspects of embedded programming: controlling power distribution throughout the vehicle, defining and implementing safety systems, reducing LV power consumption to maximize vehicle efficiency, and increasing robustness and reliability of low voltage power distribution. You will join a team of deeply knowledgeable and passionate engineers that strive to build the most robust and reliable embedded systems. You will solve challenging problems in the embedded software space and influence the world’s adoption of electric vehicles and energy sustainability.

Deliver high-quality C code in a real-time embedded environmentSpecify, design, and implement functionality and behaviors of embedded subsystemsDesign the software architecture and firmware implementation on hardware through integration, testing and high-volume manufacturingHands-on hardware bring-up, system debugging and code optimizationWriting component level tests to ensure proper functionalityMake performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements

What You'll Bring

Currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field of study with a graduation date between August 2025-August 2026Experience with fundamental hardware components on PCB and their analysis toolsKnowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals including circuit analysis and designProficiency in C, comprehension of PythonKnowledge of software fundamentals including software design and maintainabilityExperience with the embedded microprocessor toolsAbility to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts

Expected Compensation

$36.06 - $56.12/hour + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
