Job Description

The Lead Barista is responsible for overseeing daily coffee shop operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high-quality beverage preparation. This role involves leading and training the barista team, managing inventory, and fostering a positive and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and train barista staff on beverage preparation, equipment use, and customer service standards.
    • Schedule shifts and manage team performance, providing feedback and support as needed.
  2. Customer Service:
    • Ensure a welcoming atmosphere for customers, addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly.
    • Engage with customers to enhance their experience and promote new products.
  3. Beverage Preparation:
    • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, adhering to quality and presentation standards.
    • Experiment with new recipes and techniques to keep the menu innovative and exciting.
  4. Quality Control:
    • Monitor product quality and consistency, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • Regularly clean and maintain coffee equipment, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  5. Inventory Management:
    • Assist with ordering and managing inventory of coffee beans, syrups, and other supplies.
    • Conduct regular stock checks and minimize waste through effective inventory practices.
  6. Sales and Marketing:
    • Promote seasonal offerings and upsell menu items to increase sales.
    • Participate in marketing initiatives and community events to enhance brand visibility.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a barista, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to [weight limit, e.g., 30 lbs].
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment with exposure to hot surfaces and equipment.

The base pay range for this position is a salary range of $20.00 - 25.00 per hour.
