Job Description

Provides strategic direction and results by planning and executing Direct Mail and related marketing programs supporting Planned and Annual giving acquisition and renewal targets.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Oversees and manages assigned area, ensuring programmatic and budgetary objectives and goals are met.
  • Collaborates with multiple departments including Development, Marketing and IT to create donor messaging that matches donor categories (Annual vs Legacy giving for example), list selects to optimize donor responses.
  • Facilitates, coordinates, and executes the marketing of Planned and Annual giving opportunities to donors in the donor database.
  • Facilitates, coordinates and executes the acquisition of new donors via Direct Mail in coordination with Digital and other multimedia approaches.
  • Manages the procurement process for printing and letter shops, negotiates, reviews, and establishes contracts and programs with vendors and service providers that support Direct Mail operations.
  • Reviews and analyzes tests, programs, and campaigns in conjunction with Data Analytics.
  • Develops and monitors budgets in conjunction with Finance.
  • Discusses opportunities and provides direct mail support to Fundraisers and Philanthropic Gift officers
  • Hires, manages, and evaluates staff.
  • Collaborates with Support areas, ensuring Direct Mail Fundraising cost effectively achieves budgetary objectives.
  • Directs the efficient and effective outcomes from Direct Mail Operations.
  • Develops, manages, and is accountable for net Fundraising achieved through the Direct Mail Channel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proven ability in direct response fundraising, specifically in cultivating and soliciting prospects, reactivation of lapsed donors and retention of existing donors.
  • Broad knowledge of the principles of business and marketing.
  • Results driven with strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to interpret data and use it to drive marketing and business decisions.
  • Solid relationship building skills to negotiate and communicate with internal and external constituents.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a group of ambitious and goal-oriented professionals.
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop, analyze, evaluate, and implement strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated time and complex project management skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in process management including substantial, increasingly successful experience in fundraising required.
  • Available to travel to perform required functions and duties required.
