Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures Marketing & Events Summer Intern! DEPARTMENT: Digital Innovations Group
REPORTS TO: Director of Digital & Marketing Strategy
The Opportunity Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures is looking for a qualified marketing and events intern to join our team, with a heavy emphasis on supporting marketing events for Grand Casino throughout central Minnesota and the Minneapolis St Paul Metropolitan area. This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of event marketing. You are strategic and discerning. You are a natural leader and a problem-solver, and you are highly motivated when your work has a deep, meaningful impact. The work you do will enrich and build the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, who take pride in their communities and see the growth and development.
What You Get to Do - Observe and participate in various aspects of marketing for Grand Casino.
- Supports sponsorship activation activities, including coordinating branded materials, onsite activations, and hospitality events.
- Assist in event pre-planning.
- Assist in the execution of promotional materials + advertising efforts (print, digital, email + social)
- Assist in the coordination of event sponsors, vendors, and volunteers.
- Assist in event setup and teardown.
- Engages with Guests, fans, and eventgoers to represent Grand Casino in a cheerful and hospitable way.
- Conduct research for projects as assigned.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Take notes and develop communications for projects.
- Assists in post-event analysis, including gathering feedback, analyzing metrics, and preparing reports and presentations.
- Assist in social media planning, execution, and monitoring.
- Perform other departmental duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success and efficiency of the team.
Internship Structure - Duration: Typically, 3-6 months, flexible based on academic schedules.
- Commitment: Depending on organizational needs, 20 - 30 hours per week
- Location: Mix of remote work and onsite participation in events
- Mentorship: Each intern is paired with a marketing team mentor.

What Qualifies You - Must be enrolled in a marketing program or similar area of study.
- Must be able to secure a license from the Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
- Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGRs).
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to self-transport to various events throughout central Minnesota and the metropolitan area of Minneapolis-St. St Paul.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
Must-Have Skills - Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group situations and to moderate-sized gatherings of Associates, executives, and/or community leaders.
- Must be able to apply common sense understanding to a variety of situations to collect data, analyze facts, and determine appropriate responses.
