Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.

ASL 101/601 AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE I (4 credits)
ASL 101/601 provides an introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) as a living, unique language underlying Deaf culture in the United States. It is designed for students with no background in ASL, minimal signing skills, or those who studied non-ASL manual communication systems (like Signed Exact English). Students will learn basic vocabulary and grammar to participate and understand basic conversations in ASL. The course will also introduce aspects of Deaf culture in the United States.Bachelors degree required (Masters preferred) in Deaf Education or closely related field.
Non-native signers must demonstrate a high degree of signing competency as indicated by: a 3+ score on the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) or an Advanced Plus or higher rating on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI).Experience teaching ASL at the college level is highly preferred.
