Job Description
National Roofing is searching for a Purchasing Agent. This person will be detail oriented and proactive. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of purchasing and a basic understanding of accounts payable and accounting. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with internal partners to ensure accuracy in procurement, determine material needs, and design and implement new processes and procedures. This role involves working with the warehouse team and current accounting team on inventory controls and establishing optimal inventory levels.
Duties & Responsibilities - Manage the procurement of materials and supplies for inventory.
- Ensure accuracy in purchasing by collaborating with internal partners.
- Track and report on purchasing patterns to establish optimal inventory levels.
- Evaluate pricing and negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
- Work with the warehouse team to maintain accurate inventory controls.
- Assist in designing and implementing inventory management procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply without overstocking.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and report discrepancies.
- Support the accounts payable process by verifying and processing purchase orders and invoices.
- Ensure timely payment of invoices and resolve any discrepancies.
- Assist with basic accounting tasks as needed.
- Identify areas for improvement in purchasing and inventory processes.
- Develop and implement new procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with the inventory Control Manager to streamline operations.
- Generate and analyze reports on purchasing patterns, inventory levels, and pricing.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
- Prepare regular reports for management review.
Qualifications - Basic understanding of accounts payable and accounting principles.
- Experience in inventory management and control.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- High attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Experience working in construction and roofing is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a pre-hire criminal background check & drug screening.
