DoveLewis Emergency and Specialty Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time L evel 1 Veterinary Assistant to join our Radiology team.

Level 1 Veterinary Assistants are responsible for assisting the radiology department by providing support for animal restraint, cleanliness, and general flow maintenance within the department. A genuine love of and respect for all animals is required, as is an appreciation of the human-animal bond.

As a  Level 1 Veterinary Assistant , you will assist the radiologist and technicians as needed, including helping to restrain patients for imaging procedures, medication administration, treatments, and more. You'll also perform procedural preparations as required. Setting up for procedures such as medication administration will be part of your duties. Maintaining a clean, sterile and well stocked work environment is essential, and you'll follow the cleaning checklist for details. Additionally, you'll perform non-qualitative lab work, and slide preparation, for radiology patients. 

You will provide client service representatives with updates on patients' status and serve as the point person for the radiology team within the hospital. You'll assist technicians with entering charges and help transfer patients between hospital floors. Communicating with rDVMs regarding outpatient radiographs and troubleshooting radiology equipment when needed will also be part of your role. Lastly, you'll perform any other miscellaneous tasks or assigned projects as directed.

Wage Range: $19.95-$22 hourly depending on experience, education, and certification.

Schedule: This position is anticipated to work Monday - Friday 8am to 4pm

What are we looking for in a candidate?

• A genuine love of and respect for all animals is required, as is an appreciation of the human-animal bond.
• Experience or education equivalent to a High School Diploma is required.
• Valid Oregon driver's license for driving the DoveLewis transport van is strongly preferred.
• Understanding of animal behavior and knowledge of safe animal handling and transport practices.
• 1+ year experience working in animal care work such as at a veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, grooming facility, or animal daycare is preferred for all positions and required for Veterinary Assistant Level 1.
• Any suitable combination of experience or education may substitute for the above.
